Winnie Ruth Lightfoot, 90, of Kaufman, Texas, passed away peacefully at home with her family on August 21, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and the simple joys she found in everyday life.
Winnie was born on September 8, 1935, to Woodrow W. Lightfoot and Izora Lightfoot. She graduated from Kaufman High School and worked at Ms. Maryland’s sewing factory and an air-conditioning factory in Terrell before retiring.
A loving sister and aunt, Winnie cherished her family and enjoyed being around children. She was known for her gentle, kind spirit and her down-to-earth way of life. She loved spending time outdoors on her tractor, caring for and watching over her and her sisters cows, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing dominoes, working crossword puzzles, and putting puzzles together.
Winnie was a longtime member of Ola Church of Christ, where she attended for most of her life. Her faith was an important part of who she was and remained a source of strength throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow W. Lightfoot and Izora Lightfoot.
Winnie is lovingly remembered by her sister, Clara L. Kirkland; her nephew, Gerald Wayne Kirkland her niece, Sandra Kay Williams and her husband, Dirk Williams; and the many family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched.
Winnie will be remembered for her simple country ways, her love of family and children, her faith, and the joy she found in caring for her home, animals, garden, and loved ones. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Rest peacefully, Winnie. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. We love you.
