Tommy Q. Akins, 75, of Scurry, TX passed away on June 21, 2022, in Rockwall.  Tommy was born on February 1, 1947, to W.E. and Davalynn Evans in McKinney, TX.  He grew up in McKinney and graduated from High School there.  Tommy served in the Army for 3 years before joining the Dallas Police Department.  He worked for DPD for 33 years before retiring.  Tommy married Brigitte Akins on January 17, 1969, in McKinney and they have been together for a loving 53 years.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.  He spent time watching old westerns on TV and taking care of his old truck. Tommy was a simple, hardworking man but his family was always first.  He loved his family, especially his girls.  Tommy was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Scurry.  He was a beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather.  His parents and brothers David Akins and Stephen Evans preceded him in death.  Those left to cherish his memory are wife Brigitte, sons Michael Akins and wife Beth and Barry Akins and wife Charlotte; grandchildren: Evan Akins, Trevor Stone and Tatum Stone; great grandchildren: Fallon, Hadley and Kash; numerous extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
