Shawn Ray Nichols was born in Dallas, TX on September 21, 1963, to the late Freddie Ray Nichols and Anna Marie Wise. Shawn graduated from Nimitz High School in 1982 and was working with his dad in the car sales business. Shawn later went on to buy the car lot “Nick’s Motors” from his dad and had a thriving business for many years buying and selling auto’s. When technology changed from pen and paper to computers, Shawn decided they were getting too complicated and decided to start buying properties and renting them out. Eventually the car lot became just that, a rental! Shawn’s earlier years consisted of dirt bike riding, fishing, dancing, and playing darts. He was definitely money motivated and knew how to turn a dime into a dollar. If you knew him you either loved him or hated him, there was no in between with Shawn. If you knew him, you also knew that he had a very kind heart but came across as a rather shrewd mean old person sometimes.
His favorite quote at the care lot was,
“The Easiest Way to Get Back on Your Feet is to Miss 2 Car Payment”
and he had a drawing with a pair of shoes hung on the wall with this quote.
In 2005, Shawn became a dad to Shawn Ray Nichols II and his life forever changed after that. He was a dedicated father to his new love of life. For the last 18 years he has been a full-time dad and would not waver in even getting a babysitter to go out with any of his friends. That kiddo came first and still did until his last day on this earth!
Shawn is survived by his son Shawn Ray Nichols II, a brother Dutch Lewayne Nichols, and four nephews, Randall (Bubba) Wickersham, Dutch Lewayne Nichols II, Dylan Ray Nichols and Mark Anthony Nichols. He is also survived by a special friend Diane Thomas several aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces/nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister Debbie Marie Wickersham.
A celebration of life and the details to follow at a later date.
