Robbie Gene Whittenberg left this earthly presence on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of ninety-six. Robbie was born in Kaufman, Texas on June 27, 1929, to the parents Jesse and Hattie (Couch) Scallions. Her grandchildren write:
“The definition of loving the Lord Jesus Christ was our Grannie “Robbie Gene Whittenberg,” the most true and loyal woman on this earth. She showed us through all she did that there is God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. There was not any doubt when it came to what is real and that is believing in Christ, our Savior.
We are not perfect, and we all make mistakes but no matter the mistake, our Grannie loved us the same and would tell us “Always hold on to Jesus. Jesus loves you and he takes care of you no matter what you do. Forgive yourself and Jesus forgives you.”
Our Grannie put all of us before her own wants and needs. But she still took great care of herself. She was a queen when she stepped out of her room to start her day. Even on days she was not feeling her best, she would get out of bed and perform her daily tasks.
Grannie always kept up with all of us and yet maintained a clean house. It is because of her love for Jesus is how she is so amazing. She is loyal, strong, courageous, fearless, wise, consistent, giving, caring, and most of all, dependable.
We do not like to admit it, but we let worldly things get in the way of what we really need to do. Grannie did not. She took care of what God gave her to take care of, even in her last days.
She was always there to open the door to her home; she is the light that lights up a room. She is the laughter that took away sadness and love that kept us together.”
Those who remain to cherish her memories forever are her daughter, Verna Rawdon; granddaughters Ashley Khan, Brittney Crawford, and Julie Jones; grand son-in-law, Jimmy Zaman; Grandsons, Jesse and Colton Crawford, Keith Torres, Buddy Saunders, and Mike Crawford. Several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild also survive.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Horace Whittenberg, daughter, Jackie Walp, granddaughter, Laura Zaman, and great granddaughter, Whittney Crawford.
