Patrick Clayton Huckaby, 86, of Tool, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2026.
Pat was born on August 12, 1940, in Mabank, Texas, to William and Gladys Huckaby. He graduated from high W.W. Samuel High School in 1958, earned his beautician's license, and went on to open his own salon in Dallas, Texas. After spending 20 years in the hair industry, he pursued a variety of business ventures before becoming the owner of The Donut Palace in Seagoville, Texas, which he operated for many years until his retirement.
If you knew Pat, you knew of his love for Las Vegas. He enjoyed playing cards and especially loved rolling the dice. If anyone mentioned a trip to Vegas, Pat was always ready with advice on when to go, where to stay, which casinos to visit, and how much gambling money to bring. His enthusiasm and knowledge made him the unofficial travel guide for family and friends planning a trip.
Pat also had a passion for pigeons. He raised homing pigeons for more than 20 years and built a large pigeon loft in the backyard of his home in Richardson, Texas. Through racing and raising his birds, he formed many lifelong friendships and created memories he cherished deeply.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Huckaby, and his sisters, Patricia King and Priscilla Kirby.
He is survived by his daughter, Shara Akins and husband Christian of Odessa, Texas; his son, Clay Huckaby of Plano, Texas; his grandsons: Clayton Huckaby of Plano, TX and Hunter Wynne and wife Brianne of Odessa, TX; and his great-grandchildren, Ava Huckaby, Cali Huckaby, and Titus Wynne. He is also survived by his niece, Shannon Denton and husband Craig of Frisco, Texas; nephews Doug Roberts and wife Amy of Plano, Texas, Ty King and wife Debbie of Enchanted Oaks, Texas, Curt Roberts of Tool, Texas, and Chad King and wife Kim of Trinidad, Texas; along with numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, extended family members, and dear friends.
Pat will be remembered for his quick wit, love of adventure, generous spirit, and the joy he found in sharing his passions with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
