Michael Dean Wright

September 25, 1947 — December 21, 2023

In loving memory of Michael (Mike) Dean Wright, who passed on December 21, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Mike was born in Amarillo, TX, on September 25, 1947, to his loving parents Ray Wright and Melivee Wright (Vail). As a child Mike moved with his family to Dallas TX. Shortly after graduating, from Bryan Adams High School, Mike joined the service, in 1964, where he served as a Machinist in the U.S. Navy. During his 8 years of service, Mike served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, in December of 1972, Mike returned home, to Dallas, where he had four sons, known by many as the “Wright Boys.” And if anyone knew Mike, they knew he was crazy about his boys. And quite the same in return; often times seeing the boys, right behind their dad. Later, Mike met his beloved wife Elizabeth Wright (Hart), in 1986, which they were later married in 1997. Along with this unification, Mike gained a daughter and son, whom he loved as his own. For many years, Mike worked at the Mobil gas station, as the local “famous fix-it all” mechanic. And I mean that literally, he could fix anything. However, he eventually moved on in his career, settling with Jack Key, where he remained employed until retiring in 2014. After retiring, Mike enjoyed many things, such as reading, watching football “his Cowboys”, fishing and cooking. But most of all Mike enjoyed being “Papa” which fit him perfectly. He had a nickname for every one of his grandkids!

Mike lived his life fearlessly and was loved by many. In his younger days, he was most recognized by his long ponytail and knucklehead motorcycle.  And although, with age, his hair became shorter, his love for motorcycles never changed. He was a man of strength, making his presence known. He was a protector and a provider, a man of wisdom and a man of faith.

Mike is survived by his sons, Billy Wright and spouse Robin Wright, James Wright and spouse Andria Wright, Ronnie Wright, Bryan Wright and David Smith; daughter, Chelsea Burley and spouse Kenard Burley; grandsons, David Hatcher, Mason Whitesell, Daylan Stribling, Joshua Wright, Stevie Ray Wright and Kamden Burley; granddaughters, Sarrah Miller, Shelbie Caudle, Nicole Wright, Breanna Wright, Kaylie Porter and Faith Stribling; great-granddaughters, Ava Stokes, Aleah Trujillo and Emma Jin; great-grandson, Lane Miller, sister-in-laws, Lea Wright and Kellye Wright; along with several other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Melivee Wright; and siblings, Ronnie Wright, Gaylon Wright and Pamela Wright; along with several other beloved family members.

Michael Dean Wright had many aliases “Mike / Dad / Papa / My BB” but whom ever he was to you, he will be missed equally by all. Until we meet again.  ðŸ’žðŸ’žðŸ’ž
