In loving memory of Melissa “Lissa” Robinson-Westphal, age 51, passed away tragically on February 20, 2024.
Her untimely departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. We celebrate the life of a remarkable
woman whose spirit and life left an indelible mark on those she met.
Lissa was a compassionate soul who found purpose in caring for her grandparents during their twilight years. Her selflessness and dedication were evident as she tended to their needs with unwavering love and kindness.
Born in Ennis, TX, Lissa’s childhood was filled with laughter, curiosity, and the simple joys of growing up. She attended
school in Ennis, bringing music and light into many lives by playing her saxophone in the high-school band.
Lissa’s journey was one of profound love and loss. Lissa shared a special bond with her father, Dale, a connection that transcended mere words, a testament to her deep sense of family ties. The tragic loss of her beloved son, Jessie was a sorrow from which she never fully recovered. Yet, she carried on with unwavering strength that inspired all who knew her.
Lissa is preceded in death by her son Jessie Lynn Pickett, Jessie’s dad, Gary, her paternal grandparents, Gloyd John and Juanita Robinson, her maternal grandparents, Loren Almus and Dorothy Nona West, two uncles Gary Lynn West and Lewis Crocker.
Lissa is survived by her mother, Janet Faye West-Love (Tom Jay Love III, spouse), her dad, Gloyd “Dale” Robinson, and her brother, Brandon Dale Robinson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many loving friends.
Her life was a melody, underscored by her favorite tune, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” by Bobby McFerrin, which captured her eternal optimism and her ability to find joy even in the face of adversity. Lissa’s love story was a symphony of its own, with movements marked by her marriages to Tommy Roybal, Gary Pickett, Clay Haning, Chris Polesek, and Joshua “JJ” Westphal. Each chapter added depth to her life song.
In later years, Lissa resided in Kaufman, TX, where she continued to touch lives with her kindness and compassion.
She will forever be remembered; her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her.
While we mourn her passing, we take solace in knowing that she is now on the greatest fishing trip, reunited with Jessie, in a place where the music never ends and happiness is eternal. May Lissa find eternal peace, free from the struggles that plagued her. Let us remember her not for the darkness that consumed her, but for the light she brought into our lives. Rest in peace, dear Lissa. You are deeply missed.
