For 35 years, Mary Jane dedicated her professional life as a tax preparer at H&R Block, where her meticulous work helped families navigate the complexities of taxes. Her devotion extended beyond her career; she was an enthusiastic participant in local elections in Scurry and devoted much of her time to volunteering at the Scurry Food Bank. Her commitment to helping those in need showcased her generous spirit and strong sense of community.
Mary Jane's heart always found its way to her grandchildren, Aidan Richman, Addison Richman, and Cassie Thurlo. She cherished every moment spent with them, offering not just love but invaluable life lessons wrapped in her warm, humorous style. Halloween was one of her most cherished occasions; for over 43 years, she happily handed out candy to trick-or-treaters, creating joyful memories that shaped the community's celebrations. Christmas held a special place in her heart, too. Her love for the holiday was exemplified by her treasured collection of Hallmark ornaments, as she sought to fill her home—and the hearts of her family—with holiday cheer.
In sports, Mary Jane was a die-hard supporter of her football teams, passionately cheering for the Wildcats and the Dallas Cowboys.
She exuded a joy that made everyone feel welcome, her kindness and humor leaving an undeniable impact on all who knew her. As a Godly woman entrenched in her beliefs, she exemplified patriotism and dedication to her community.
Mary Jane is survived by her son, Rodney Richman (spouse – Lexie), her cherished grandchildren, Aidan Richman, Addison Richman, and Cassie Thurlo (spouse Weston), and her loyal grand dog, Speck. She is lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched, her legacy of kindness and unwavering support serving as an enduring inspiration.
She is reunited in eternal rest with her devoted husband, Talmage, who supported her endeavors through elections, community service, Halloween and Christmas; her loving, mother, Lila Cole; and her sister, Suzanne Cato (Mo), whose spirits will always be intertwined with hers.
