Mary Lou McWhorter

Mary Lou McWhorter, 92, of Scurry, TX went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2026. Mary was born on July 20, 1933, to J.W. and Effie Stout in Phalba, TX. Mary grew up in Crandall, TX, graduating from Crandall High School. She married Glenn McWhorter and they had a loving life together till he passed away in May 1999. Mary worked for the Scurry Rosser school district, Daltile, Trinity Valley Electric Coop, and Aberdeen’s throughout her career. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and spending time at the deer lease hunting, though she would also quilt while at the deer lease. Her most precious time was spent with her family, she was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother. Her parents, J.W. and Effie, her husband Glenn, and her brothers JC Stout and Lester Stout preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are sons: Denny McWhorter and wife Diane, Randy McWhorter and wife Linda, and Bobby McWhorter; grandchildren: Jennifer Smith and husband Brian, Heather Cole and husband Casey, Tracy McWhorter and wife Misti, Misty Vaughn and husband Jed, Gina Dennis, Ricki Fain and husband Stephen; great grandchildren: Kenzie Smith, Bryce Smith, Marlee Liles, Kaitlyn Joyner, Abigail Joyner, Lainey Joyner, Sawyer Vaughn, Henslee McWhorter, Ambralee McWhorter, Harlei Ragsdale, Conner Fain, and Mart Dennis; 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
