Marion Adams Hughes was born March 12, 1934, in Dallas, Texas, to Marion S. Hughes and Heste (Adams) Hughes. Known as “Ubi” to his friends and relatives, a nickname he acquired in Latin class, he graduated from Kaufman High School in 1952. He was employed by Southwestern Bell (AT&T), and served as Directory Representative (Yellow Page Sales), traveling to Dallas, Abilene, Wichita Falls, Tyler, and Longview for this position until he retired in 1984. Ubi enjoyed traveling, attending his granddaughter’s concerts, and tinkering in his shop. He was known for telling stories, remembering the punchline to every joke, taking his family on amazing vacations, and having a great attitude about life. He was a loving husband and father known to his grand-children as “Pawpaw” and will be remembered as a kind, attentive, and generous grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lydia Supak Trojacek Hughes; son, Stanley Bass Hughes; daughter, Beverly Hughes Lambert and husband Rick; step-son, Michael Trojacek and wife Susan; grandchildren Miranda Lambert, Luke Lambert, Zachary and Travis Fowler, Matthew and Anthony Trojacek; eight great-grandchildren, sister Cinda Nowiski; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Carl Hughes, and step-daughter Pamela Trojacek Fowler.
