Kaufman, Tx

Maria Milligan, a beloved figure to all who had the joy of knowing her, died peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Kaufman, Texas. Born on September 15, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, Maria lived a life rich with love and laughter, touching the hearts of many throughout her 69 years.

Maria  was a dedicated secretary for the Mexia Independent School District until her retirement. Her commitment to her work was only rivaled by her devotion to her family. She was a true "daddy's girl," and her warmth and kindness permeated every interaction. With a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest days, Maria had a way of making those around her feel welcomed and cherished.

Her passion for her family was evident in everything she did. Maria loved to travel, taking great joy in visiting her grandchildren as they participated in various sports, cheering them on with an enthusiasm that inspired all. The holidays were particularly special for her, as she loved hosting family gatherings, with Thanksgiving being a highlight when she would prepare her "famous" dressing—an occasion that brought everyone together and filled their hearts with gratitude.

Maria had an adventurous spirit that led her to the beach, where the sound of the waves mirrored her zest for life. She found joy in simple pleasures as well, like going to the movies with a bucket of popcorn in hand. Her love extended to her feline companions, who brought her comfort and companionship during quiet moments.

Maria was proud to be a breast cancer survivor, courageously fighting through and coming out on the other side.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Doyle "Gene" Milligan, and her children: Gabriella DeLuna, Pedro Medellin, Jr., Raquel Tamayo, and Kimberly Escobedo. Maria's legacy continues through her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers and two sisters who also survive her.

Maria was predeceased by her father, Raymond Medina, her mother, Guadalupe Medina, and five siblings, all of whom she holds dear in spirit.

As we remember Maria Milligan, let us celebrate the light she brought into our lives through her humor, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Though she has embarked on her final journey, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
