Lu Ann Darnell 87, of Grays Prairie Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 16, 2025 in Mesquite surrounded by family. Ann was born on June 20, 1937 to Jerome and Lucille Honeywell in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School.
She met and married Bill Darnell August 1, 1955 and spent 65 years together until his passing in 2020. They moved from Dallas to Grays Prairie in 1970, where they both lived until their passing. She was involved with the kids’ school activities from elementary through high school where she made so many friends and memories. Bill and Ann were self employed beginning with Air Park TV in Dallas then Bill’s Electronics in Scurry, then moving to Kaufman. Video Vision was opened in 1985. Over the years the customers not only were customers but became part of the family adding to so many happy memories.
When you met Ann, the first thing she would talk about was her Lord Jesus and what He has done for her and if you accept Him in your life, what He would do in your life. She was saved while attending church camp as a child; and lived for the Lord til the day He called her home. She learned the piano at a young age only taking only a few lessons. She played by memory. She believed it was a gift from God and wanted to use it to glorify Him. Practicing daily, she wanted to do her best. She played at First Baptist Church of Rosser where she was a faithful member. She was caring, loving and had a great sense of humor. She was definitely a hugger. If a serviceman was anywhere in sight, they received a hug and a big thank you for their service. Her father was in World War 1 and she learned patriotism at a very early age.
She was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Bill; parents Jerome and Lucille Honeywell; sister Jeri McClure; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by daughters Becky Gosnell (Harold); Debby Moore; and Cathy Garza (Lorenzo); 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Angel Home Healthcare and Angel Hospice for being so compassionate and caring for our mother.
A celebration of life is scheduled for May 18, 2025 at Parker Ashworth at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers mom would like donations to be made either to First Baptist Church in Rosser or the Kaufman County Pet Adoption Center in Kaufman.
