Joyce Hope Townsend

Joyce Hope Townsend, 84, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2020.  Joyce was born on October 29, 1936 to Lee and Mamie Frier in Combine, TX. She went to school in Combine as a young girl, but graduated from Seagoville High School.  Shortly after high school, Joyce met Murrell Townsend; for sometime they were neighbors. Joyce and Murrell were married on January 28, 1955 and spent almost 60 loving years together before he passed away in 2014.  She worked for Union Bankers underwriting department for a while before opening up a business with her husband, AAA Electric Motors, helping him out with the accounting.  Joyce loved spending time with her grandkids, cooking for big family gatherings, and going through picture albums with everybody.  She enjoyed baling hay and harvesting the crop from her husband's garden. A beloved, founding member of Abner Baptist Church, her family held services in their home to start the church.  Joyce was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  Her parents, Lee and Mamie, husband Murrell, siblings: Bill, Earl, Allen, Hubert, Inez, Jane, Ola, Kate, Rose and Pearl preceded her in death.  Those left to cherish her memory are children: Teresa Dunn and husband Wesley of Mesquite, TX, Jeff Townsend of Kaufman, TX and Brian Townsend of Kaufman, TX; grandchildren: Amanda Kelsoe and husband Lee, Kristina Sixta and husband Aaron, Valorie Townsend, Neil Knox, London Townsend and Asa Townsend; great grandchildren: Austin, Chloe, Travis, Sage, Iva and Braxton; numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
