John Anthony Frye

John Anthony Frye, 72, of Kaufman, TX passed away on November 22, 2023.  John was born on December 31, 1950, to Raymond and Ruth Frye in Washington DC.  On May 4, 1977, he married Vickie Jean Frye and they spent a loving 46 years together.  He spent 4 years in the Marines during Vietnam. They moved to Texas in 1984 and then to Kaufman 1993.  He started a coin and cards shop first through the flea market, Big D Bizarre; but eventually opened their own shop in Mesquite from 1985 – 2018 known as the Dollars and Cents Coins and Cards.  John enjoyed watching Baseball and his favorite team the Texas Rangers, and playing poker, competing in the Sr. World Series of Poker and other tournaments.  He would always stop and get gifts and candies for his grandkids when he would see them. John was a beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather.  His parents, Raymond and Ruth, and brothers Ed and Jim Hassett preceded him in death.  Those left to cherish his memory are wife Vickie, children: Brian Frye and wife Nicole and Deeann Jones and husband Tommy; grandchildren: Sean Frye, Trinity Frye, Colton Jones, Noah Jones, Knoxly Frye, Makayla Jones-Mercer and husband Hunter and Axel Frye; great grandchildren Paxton Mercer and Easton Mercer; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
