Jimmy Lynn McCormack passed away on March 23, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, the city where he was born on February 23, 1948. A proud native of Dallas and a graduate of Samuel High School class of 1966, Jimmy lived a life defined by hard work, dedication to family, and strong values.
After being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Jimmy served his country by spending two years stationed in Germany. Arriving back home, he met Sandra Calvert McCormack and they would marry on April 23, 1970, and they have had a loving 55 years together. Following his military service, he built a career in metal fabrication and welding. As a self-employed man, he took immense pride in being a good provider, always ensuring those around him were cared for.
Jimmy had a passion for guns and was well known as a gun enthusiast who owned and operated his own gun shop. His aim was one of the best. From shooting quarters to splitting playing cards in half with his shot. This interest was just a small part of his full and active life.
He cherished his large family deeply, and it was clear how much love he gave and received in return. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sandra McCormack, and their three sons: Jason McCormack and his wife Kathy, Dustin McCormack and his wife Jennifer, and Adam McCormack. He was a proud grandfather to Bailey and husband Cody, Andrea and husband Casey, Hunter and wife Alyssa, Drew, and wife Madi, Micah, Silas, Kaliegh, Kaden, and Kyndel. His legacy grows through his great-grandchildren: Hadleigh, Hutsynn, Fynlie, Ryder, Raelynn, and Kimber. Family ties extend further to his niece, Melanie Morgan, husband Dwayne, and nephew Jeff McCormack, wife Kim, and niece Whitney Boyce, husband Joey who was always at Jimmy and Sandra’s house. They were
considered as extra siblings to their children as many more nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
His lifelong friend of over 50 years, David Adams, was considered his brother and partner in mischief. From building their own guns together to hunting and making sure their kids were there to share those special moments together. Together they were the best of friends even though it was a love-hate relationship you did not mess with one or you will answer to the other.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, James Wesley McCormack; his parents, Hullen and Mini Weeks McCormack; as well as his siblings Lloyd, Hullen, Freddie, Claudia, Wesley, and Leslie and grandchild Angel.
Known for his steadfastness and care, Jimmy was a man who always put family first. His presence was a steady foundation, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. He passed surrounded by loved ones, now resting with his Savior.
Jimmy Lynn McCormack lived a life of purpose and dedication, always providing and taking care of others. He leaves behind a family that loved him deeply and a legacy that endures.
