Jerry LaRue Hedrick

Jerry LaRue Hedrick, 85, of Kaufman, Texas, went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on August 20, 1940, to Merrill and Mattie Hermoline Hedrick in Kemp, Texas.

Jerry shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Patsy Hedrick, for 66 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and serving others.

Jerry devoted 38 years of his career to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, but his life's work reached far beyond a single profession. A natural entrepreneur, he owned and operated numerous businesses throughout the years and became a familiar face across Texas through more than six decades of managing ticket operations for many of the region's largest events, including the State Fair of Texas. Whatever he put his hand to, Jerry believed in doing it well and in creating opportunities for others along the way.

His commitment to serving people extended beyond business. He faithfully served his community through leadership roles on the Kaufman Independent School District Board of Trustees, as President of the Oak Grove Water Supply Corporation for more than 20 years, and as a member of the Kaufman Masonic Lodge. Believing deeply in investing in young people, he founded the Kaufman Cubs Little League football program and devoted countless hours to helping children and families in his community.

Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kaufman and later joined CLife Church in Kaufman.

Jerry was an avid sports fan who loved the Texas Rangers, but if you knew him well, you knew his heart belonged to the Texas A&M Aggies and the TCU Horned Frogs.

Of all the titles Jerry held throughout his life, none meant more to him than husband, Daddy, and Papa.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeri Ann Hedrick, Cathy Chambers and husband Brian; his grandsons, Jordan Chambers and wife Kayla, Justin Chambers and wife Sarah; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Raylan, Rynn, and Cal, along with a number of extended family members and friends who became family along the way.

Without question, the greatest joys of Jerry's life were his grandsons, Jordan and Justin. He faithfully took them to school, attended their activities, celebrated their accomplishments, and poured his love and time into them every chance he had. They were his pride, his joy, and his greatest legacy. As his family grew, his great-grandchildren filled his heart with that same joy.

Jerry will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, generous spirit, quiet leadership, and servant's heart. He was a man who built things—not just businesses and organizations, but opportunities for others. He had a remarkable ability to bring people together, open doors, and make things happen. The good he did reached far beyond what could ever be counted, and his influence will continue to be felt through the countless lives he touched.

Though his accomplishments were many, the greatest thing Jerry ever built was his family. His legacy lives on in the community he helped shape, the opportunities he created for others, and the family he loved beyond measure.
