Jerry Richard Eskridge

Jerry Richard Eskridge was born on November 30, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to James Riley Eskridge and Audeen Bunyard Eskridge.  He went to be with our Savior on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the age of 88.

Jerry attended South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas.  He played football and ran track, but was more interested in working with his father in the construction business.  Jerry met Mar Ches Waldrop during their high school years at South Oak Cliff.  They married on March 1, 1956, and were married for 68 years.

Jerry worked in construction and built cabinets around Dallas and Kaufman Counties for most of his life.  He and Mar Ches lived in Kaufman County for 60 plus years where they raised their three children. He and his family attended First Baptist Church of Kaufman and then Country Bible Church for 48 years.

Jerry was an avid reader and visited the library weekly.  In his later years, he loved mowing and maintaining his pristine yard. His favorite TV show was “Judge Judy”, for obvious reasons, if you knew him.  Dad was a collector of knives his entire life.  He passed down the love of knives to his grandsons.  Later in his retirement years, he took up riding motorcycles with new and old friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife Mar Ches, son, Jason Eskridge and wife Angela of Kaufman, Tx, daughter, Heather Eskridge of Flatonia, Tx, daughter, Holly Frazier and husband Stephen of Talty Tx., and sister, Nancy Beasley and husband Jack of Campbell, Tx.  He has 6 grandchildren, Trent, Ransom, Quentin, Elizabeth, Luke, and Madeline. Jerry also is survived by 9 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents James and Audeen Eskridge, his sister, Dixie Davis, and granddaughter Elizabeth Lindsey.
