Janice Katherine Graves “Kathy” passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 82.
Kathy was born on September 5, 1943, in Dallas, Texas to Thomas Houston mace Sr. and May Bell Rann Mace.
She attended City Park Elementary, Stockard Jr High and High school. She was a model student and a teacher and administrator favorite.
Kathy met her soul mate and husband Robert “Lynn” Graves while working at Texas Instruments. She worked in their quality control division and had a great eye for detail. Kathy & Lynn were married on June 29, 1968. They celebrated 57 years together this past June.
Mom and Nanny as we all know her was an avid animal lover, a lover of travel and reading. She had a soft spot for all furry friends, treating each and every pet like the valuable family members they were.
She was our rock and prayer warrior. She always thought of others before herself. Some of her happiest moments were telling others about her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was the best cook and gave all of us good godly advice. Some of her favorite activities were spending time with family, camping and home decorating. If you ever needed to remember anything she was your best helper with that. She was the person that could recall details like no other.
Mom/Nanny, we will miss you immensely. You were our “go-to” when life got rough, our sanity in this crazy world and our number one supporter. We all love you and will forever cherish our memories of you.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Houston Mace Sr. and May Bell Rann Mace, her brother Thomas Houston Mace Jr. and sons Robert “Robbie” Lynn Graves Jr. and Ronald “Little Ronnie” Orville LaRue Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband Robert “Lynn” Graves of Garland, Texas; her brother Gary Mace and wife Terry of Houston, Texas; daughters Lisa Kirk and husband Perry of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Angie Graves Short and husband Charlie of McKinney, Texas; son Michael Graves and wife Jennifer of San Antonio, Texas.
Grandchildren: Garrett Graves and wife Madison, Dylan Graves and fiancé Kilee, Kaylie Fain and husband Conner, Justin Kirk, Cody Kirk, Connor Short and wife Elizabeth, Corey Short and wife Abigail, Justin Graves, Benjamin Graves and wife Amber and Mason Graves.
Great-grandchildren: Nora Graves, Ivey Graves, Norah Graves, Florence Graves, Theodore Graves, Avery Graves, Parker Graves, Kolt Kirk, Kornelius Kirk, John Kyle Kirk, Luke Kirk, and baby girl Short due in March.
