James Earl Day, 85, of Glenn Heights, TX went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025. James was born on December 17, 1939, to Alfred and Virginia Day in Texarkana, AR. He grew up in Texarkana till he moved to Dallas as an early teen. He would attend South Oak Cliff High School. James served in the Army from 1957-1960 when he was deployed to Korea. He was a skilled blues guitarist and played for various bands including Sam the Sham. After coming to the Lord at the age of 35, he dedicated his musical talent to leading worship for various churches with his wife Barbara. On February 6, 1982, James married Barbara Council Day and they spent a loving 43 years together. James owned his own hair piece business, known as “The Head Hugger”, and in his later years owned Big Jim’s appliance repair company. He was a generous man, offering his services for no charge for anyone in need. After retirement, he worked at the foodbank for Hilltop Church and mentored many men and women in the Care Center's ministries program. James was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and sibling. His parents, Alfred and Virginia, and sisters: Doris Louise Sanders and Kathy Elaine Gallop preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barbara, children: Angela McKay, Kim Allmon, Christopher Calhoun and Jonathan David Day and wife Jessica; grandchildren: Bobby McKay, III and wife Courtney, Jace Allmon, Cutter Calhoun, Gerald Calhoun, Dean Calhoun, Skylar Day and Austin Day; sister, Earlene Glover, numerous, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers the family would invite you to make donations to Care Center Ministries Capital Campaign in his honor.
