James Auble Adams went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2024, with his family by his side. James was born on Saturday February 11, 1933, to Auble Venner and Mildred Griffey Adams in Tolbert, Texas. Shortly after his birth, the Adams family moved to Crandall, Texas where James would spend most of his childhood and attend school.
After graduation from Crandall High School in 1950, he attended college at the University of Noth Texas, earning a bachelor’s degree in government and a Master of Business Administration in management. James also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was stationed at Parks Air Force Base, California, and Wolters Air Force Base, Texas
James married Patsy Ann Fisher on April 1, 1956. James and Pat were lifelong companions, sharing 61 wonderful years of marriage together. James and Pat were blessed with two loving children, James Edward and Connie Lynn.
After his service in the Army, James went on to work in public service. His time in the government included working as a claims unit supervisor in Houston for the Social Security Administration. Afterwards he would go on to serve as the Regional Director for the Department of Health and Human Services in Medicare and Medicaid Management. He dedicated 30 years to the betterment of his community before retiring in 1985. After retiring from government service, James opened a local real estate office in Crandall, Texas.
James was a fixture in the Crandall community. He served 3 terms on the Crandall Independent School District school board, serving as president for 7 years. He was a charter member of the Crandall Lions Club, and the Crandall Chamber of Commerce. Always a strong man of faith, James was a founding member of the First Community Church. James could often be found in the stands of almost every Crandall High School sporting event, cheering on his beloved Crandall Pirates.
James is preceeded in death by his parents, Auble Venner and Mildred Griffey Adams, his brother Jerry Adams, as well as his beloved wife, Patsy. He is survived by his son James Edward Adams of Crandall, TX, daughter Connie Johnson and husband Brian Johnson of Frisco, TX, grandson Robert Troxell, granddaughter Kara Montaño and husband Edgar Montaño, granddaughter Bethany Hackett and husband Ethan Hackett, grandson Jacob Johnson and wife Alaina Johnson, granddaughter Jessica Johnson, grandson Joshua Johnson, and great-grandchildren Braxton Troxell, Katie Troxell, Brayden Montaño, Gabriella Montaño, Isaac Montaño, and Emersyn Hackett, as well as his best friend on four legs, Rufus.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11am at First Community Church in Crandall (1401 Trinity Dr. Crandall, TX) with visitation one hour prior. Please consider making a donation to The Michael J Fox Foundation, at give.michaeljfox.org.
