Jackie Curtis Ballard

Jackie Curtis Ballard, a beloved father, farmer and real estate investor, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Born on November 12, 1940, to his parents, Jack Ballard and Frances Curtis Ballard, Jackie's life was filled with enthusiasm, laughter, and a deep love for his family and friends.

In high school Jackie excelled in FFA rising to President of the Area 5 FFA Association. He raised and showed sheep, winning multiple grand championships including Houston, Fort Worth, San Antonio and the State Fair of Texas.  Likely his greatest feat was a Southdown ram lamb he bought from his neighbor. He took him to the Oklahoma State Fair and beat one of the largest breeders that had not been defeated in three years.

Throughout his career as a farmer he stripped cotton in West Texas, planted sprigged bermuda grass all over north Texas and raised some of the first F-1 Braford cattle in the area. Alongside his farming endeavors perhaps his greatest passion was in real estate investment.  He was a self-made successful businessman at every venture he pursued.

One of Jackie's greatest joys was traveling to Mexico. Exploring new places allowed him to immerse himself in different cultures and embrace diverse experiences. Aside from his passion for travel, Jackie possessed a wisdom that he generously shared with others. Whether it be offering advice or expressing his opinions candidly, his insights were cherished by those who sought his guidance.

In addition to leaving behind a legacy that impacted many lives, Jackie is survived by his loving son, Gregg Ballard and wife Tiffany of Crandall; daughter, Brandi Rodgers and husband Mike of Highland Village; granddaughters Bailey Fay, Blayne Ballard, Brooklyn Rodgers, and Jacqueline Rodgers; and great-grandsons Hostyn Fay and Heath Fay.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Ballard and Frances Curtis Ballard and brother Johnny Ballard.

To honor Jackie's memory and celebrate his remarkable life, visitation services will be held on Monday, February 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and the funeral on Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker - Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel in Kaufman, Texas. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery in Seagoville, Texas immediately following the funeral service at 12:15 p.m.

Jackie Curtis Ballard will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace as his spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
