On April 25,2026, Buddy Burleson left the world to be gently taken into the presence of his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
After struggling with stage 4 cancer for 4 years; and always a fighter, he was surrounded by those he loved.
Born in Corsicana to Jack and Joyce Burleson on October 20, 1952, Buddy was a 1970 graduate of Bryan Adam’s High School in Dallas, received his Bachelors in Business at Ut Arlington, and Masters at Abilene Christian University in Dallas.
The love of his life and soulmate, Susan Massey Burleson, enjoyed teaching, traveling, and following Buddy as his “roady” on the fantastic journey he loved; writing songs and singing. Their 2 children, Jamie Leann and Blake Craigdon, gave him the delights of his life, Madison Lea Wooley and Charlie and Nevaeh Fraraccio.
Always a social butterfly, humble hearted, and with a terrific sense of humor; Buddy and our family lived in Kaufman for the last 32 years. He served on the school board for KISD and was responsible for bringing Relyon Credit Union to the city of Kaufman.
As President of Cal-Tex Communications, he was a successful businessman, songwriter, and singer who traveled to Nashville to fulfill his dream of becoming a country singer: signing with Three Star Records,a Willie Nelson label. All songs were his original releases.
Always country to the core, he found solace at his deer lease in East Texas where he was at home with country folk as well as Presidents of corporations.
His deep love, compassion, generosity to a fault, and quiet faithfulness to God were attributes that I was privileged to share with him.
Per his wishes, there will be no formal services, but if you so choose, please send a memorial contribution to Samaritans Purse, First Baptist Church, Dallas, or Landmark Church of Christ,Kaufman.
Also, his wishes were that his ashes be spread at the headwaters of the Colorado River, where we are blessed to have a home in Grand Lake.
Always taking care of me, he left me a lifetime of love, laughter, and songs to fill a soul. Thank you for sharing our lives.
