Henry Q. “Pete” Hammock, 90, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2025. Pete was born on July 23, 1935, to Johnny and Faye Ewing Hammock in Scurry, TX. He grew up in Scurry until he joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. Pete served during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956, where he worked on supply and tanker ships. After completing his Naval service, he worked for Gulf States United Telephone Company for over 30 years. When Pete retired from the phone company, he served as a Kaufman County Commissioner for 4 years.
Pete was married to Lynda Bailey Hammock for over 66 years. In retirement, he and Lynda enjoyed traveling in their RV, especially to Colorado. Pete was a rancher at heart and loved being on his farm, working his cows, and bailing hay. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Pete is survived by his wife Lynda, daughter Amy Arnold and husband Brian, grandson Allen Wade Acevedo, great-granddaughter Meela Acevedo, sister Sandra Shelton, and cousin Larry Ewing. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Karen Acevedo; and siblings Sue Morrow, Nell Scott, Sammie Ann Hammock and Jerry Hammock.
