Glenda Joyce Cordell

Glenda Joyce Cordell (née Paul) entered eternal rest in the early hours of Friday, October 2nd, 2026. Glenda was born January 3rd, 1946, in Powell, Texas to the late Doc Allen and Ruby Ruth (White) Paul. Glenda spent her childhood and teenage years in Kerens, Texas where she met Jerry Sanders Cordell. Jerry and Glenda married December 21, 1962, in the First Baptist Church of Kerens and remained married for 54 years until his passing in 2016. To their marriage two daughters, Leanne and Melanie, were born.

Glenda worked at the Powell State Bank until the family moved to Kaufman in 1979 after buying the Nipac Farm Store, which has operated as Cordell Farm and Ranch Store for the past 47 years. Glenda was a familiar site behind the counter at the store for customers for over 30 years until her retirement in 2007. Both Glenda and Jerry were charter members of the Calvary Baptist Church in Kaufman and members of the Good Sam Club who enjoyed traveling in their RV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, sister Wanda Johnston, grandson Cordell Reynolds and niece Paulette Roundtree.

She is survived by her daughters Leanne (Leland) Day, Melanie (Eric) Reynolds; her four cherished grandchildren: Caleb (Kaitey) Day, Christa (Jarrett) Ross, Dylan (Emily) Reynolds and Blake (Brooke) Reynolds; as well as seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held Monday October 5th at 11am at Wilson-Chapel Cemetery in Kaufman.
