Gerald Don Moore

Gerald Don Moore passed away on January 18, 2026, at his home in Kaufman, Texas.

Don was born on November 25, 1940, in Kaufman, Texas, to Arthur “Buster” Moore and Mary “Midget” Moore. He grew up in Kaufman and graduated from Kaufman High School in 1959. He later attended the University of Texas at Arlington.

In 1963, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he developed a lifelong love of flying. At the age of 27, in 1967, he partnered with two others to establish Southwest Foam Molding in Keller, Texas. After selling the business a few years later, Don retired early and returned to Kaufman in 1984.

Don later returned to public service, joining the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as a peace officer and jail administrator until his retirement.

Don married his wife, Connie Moore, on September 5, 1998. Together, they enjoyed cooking, traveling, and sharing a joyous life side by side.

In his younger years, Don enjoyed flying his plane, hunting, fishing, working on cars, and riding motorcycles. He also played the fiddle and guitar, reflecting his appreciation for music and tradition.

Don was a lifelong member of Wilson Chapel Church in Kaufman, Texas, where he attended from childhood.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Moore, on February 13, 2025.

He is survived by his son, Mike Moore and wife Susan of Scurry, Texas; daughter, Miranda (Mindy) Carpenter and husband James of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter, Jade Bernard and husband Justin of El Paso, Texas; grandson, Bailey Moore and wife Savannah of Kaufman, Texas; great-granddaughter, Calico Bernard; sister, Bettye Anne Bozeman of Houston, Texas; and our chosen family, Danny and Patti Newton of Kemp, Texas. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends.

Services will be January 31, 2026 at Parker Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman, Texas. Gathering at 10:00 am, with services following at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wilson Chapel Church in Don Moore's name via Wells Fargo Bank in Kaufman, Texas.

Don will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and integrity. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the family he loved.
