Doris Faye Moffitt

Doris Faye Moffitt, 80, of Kaufman, TX passed away on October 12, 2020. Doris was born on July 20, 1940, to James Thomas (a.k.a. Pete) and Elna Olivia Smith in Dallas, TX. She graduated with honors from South Oak Cliff High in 1958 and went on to work a wide variety of jobs from being an executive secretary at Graybar Electric to medical claims examiner at Provident American Insurance. The job she loved the most was being a grandmother. Doris had a nack for cutting hair and cut everybody’s hair in the family, as a matter of fact she gave her grandson his first hair cut. Doris was a great mom who pushed her daughter to do things that she never got to do, she wanted everyone to live life to its fullest. She loved spending time with her family especially during her favorite time of year, Christmas. Her hobbies were crocheting and sewing, as she taught herself how to knit and tat. She made many football mums and garters over the years. Doris was a very talented and detailed oriented person in everything she did, and she loved helping people. Her grandson was her whole world and did everything she could for him.She loved getting texts and calls from her grand nephew, Caleb. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Wendy Moffitt, brother James Thomas Smith II, sister Mary Martin and grandson Michael Moffitt who will miss her dearly.
