Donald Gene Stoy

Donald Gene Stoy, 89, of Kaufman, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2026. Born on July 3, 1937, in Gastonia, Texas, to Allen and Pauline Stoy, Don attended and graduated from Terrell High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country. On October 15, 1960, he married WillAnn Stoy, with whom he shared a loving 66 years. Upon returning from his military service, Don joined the Dallas Fire Department, dedicatedly serving his community for 31 years prior to his retirement. Continuing his lifelong commitment to serving others, Don later served fellow veterans as the Kaufman County VA Administrator for several years until retiring in 2013. He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas. Anyone who knew Don was aware that he loved his family above all else. His greatest legacy remains the deep love he held for his family and the devotion to Jesus Christ that he instilled in each of them.

Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Pauline Stoy; his sister, Peggy Embry; and his brother-in-law, Fred Heath. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, WillAnn; children: Greg Stoy and wife Regina, Gina McKinney and husband Wade, and Daniel Stoy and wife Michele; grandchildren: William Stoy and wife Sarah, Sara McLaughlin and husband Matt, Taylor Stoy, Kathryn McKinney, Laura Three Helzer and husband Landon, Emma Stoy, and Kate Stoy; great-grandchildren: Carter McLaughlin, Claire McLaughlin, Lilah Grace Stoy, Henry Stoy, Tucker McLaughlin, Hallie Helzer, and Tessa Helzer; sister, Billie Heath; brother, Allen Stoy and wife Winnie; as well as extended family members and dear friends.
