On October 20, 2023, Donald Altom Smith of Scurry, TX, a loving husband, and father of three passed away at age 83. He was born on November 19, 1939, to J.C. and Geneva Smith of Seagoville, TX. He worked for the Sears & Roebuck Corporation for 31 years. He then worked for ADCO until he retired in 2004. He met his wife of 63 years, Faye Dickerson, while attending High School in Seagoville, TX. They were married in 1959 and raised a family of three children. They lived in Seagoville, TX until 1969, when they moved to Deer Park, TX. They moved to Scurry, Texas in 1980. Don and Faye loved their family above all else and their family loved them in return. Holidays were especially important to Don and Faye, and they strove every year to make sure that special memories were created during these times for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Faye Smith. He is survived by his daughter Rhonda Jones and husband Rickey of Deer Park, TX, his son David Smith and wife Lanette of Deer Park, TX, his daughter Donna Parker and husband Kerry of Mansfield, TX, and his sisters Omega Hawkins of Combine, TX and Tonya Rowden and her husband Larry of Streetman, TX. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, Racheal Stratford and husband Bryce of La Porte, TX, Heather Gary and husband LaRyan of Aubrey, TX, Cody Smith and wife Sarah of Pasadena, TX, Magon Redman and husband Tyler of Crandall, TX, Will Parker and wife Somer of Carthage, TX, Hillary Lancaster and husband Cole of Kerens, TX, Jake Parker and wife Luise of Crowley, TX, Tyler Smith of Deer Park, TX, Kylie Smith of Deer Park, TX, and Tatum Smith of Deer Park, TX. He is survived by 19 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family.
The family is inviting those who knew Donald to join them to share memories and stories at a visitation on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. in the chapel at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home in Kaufman.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Landmark Church of Christ located at 401 South Jackson Street in Kaufman.
The staff at Parker-Ashworth is honored to assist the family in making arrangements for Donald.
