Charles Sidney McKissack

Charles Sidney McKissack, a beloved man known for his entrepreneurial spirit and generous compassion, passed away in Corsicana, Texas, on Saturday, February 24, 2024. Born in Kaufman, Texas, on November 7th, 1934, Sid led a remarkable life defined by love for his family, hard work, and adventure.  He broke horses, raced cars, and enjoyed long road trips.  He never knew a stranger, and always helped someone in need. You would often find Sid stopped at the side of the road to help anyone with a flat tire, or car trouble. He was a quiet, giant of a man, who taught his family to never give up, no matter how down you got. Sid was a fierce protector of his family and what was his.

His first position began in 1953, at Sears and Roebuck on Jefferson Avenue, after he graduated from Adamson High School. There, he honed his skills and became the best home and garden salesman they had. He ventured out to establish his own successful business in the used auto parts industry in 1956. Sid McKissack was an entrepreneur and visionary who strived for excellence in all his work and many businesses.

  • Described as outgoing and personable, Sid touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. His proudest accomplishment was most certainly his enduring love story with his high school sweetheart, Sarah Kathleen Lintz. They celebrated 69 years of marriage recently, a testament to their deep bond.

  • One of Sid’s notable achievements, of which he was most proud, was acquiring a home and property for his family at a young age. This act of love and responsibility showcased his determination to provide for his family. This home become a centerpiece for all future generations of his family: children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all came to their home for holidays and celebrations.

Those of his family, left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sarah Kathleen Lintz McKissack; his children Jane Elizabeth McKissack du Toit, Charles Sidney McKissack, Jr., John Paul McKissack (spouse - Mary Danea), Miles Christian McKissack (spouse – Deborah Kallas); his grandchildren Jack McKissack du Toit, Amanda NeAnn Lloyd (spouse – Shaun), Megan Danea McKissack, John Wade McKissack (spouse – Megan), Shea Malynne McKissack, Melissa Commiato (spouse – Andrew), Charles (Chad) Sidney McKissack II, Madyson Suzann Richardson, Preston Michael Wilson, and Sarah Kate McKissack. Also surviving are Sid’s great grandchildren, James Edward Jones, Jr., Jason Ethan Jones, Jaden Evan Jones, Kaylee Faith Cantu, Nicole Lynn Commiato, Jacob Commiato, August Joy Richardson, Daniel Wayne Richardson, and Grant Alexander Richardson.

As family and friends gather to remember and honor Sid McKissack, let us reflect on the legacy of a man who exemplified hard work, dedication, and compassion for others. His spirit will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In this time of grief and remembrance, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Sid, a remarkable individual whose impact will forever be remembered with gratitude.
