Charles Edward Crutcher, Sr., a beloved horticulturalist known for his dedication to the cities Arlington, Mesquite, and Rockwall, has peacefully passed from this earth at his home in Terrell, Texas. Born in Linden, Texas on November 26, 1942, Charles leaves behind a legacy of passion for gardening and storytelling.
Throughout his career, Charles shared his expertise and love for horticulture with the communities he served. His green thumb and commitment to beautifying the world around him were evident in the landscapes he nurtured.
Beyond his professional life, Charles cherished moments spent with his family. His favorite hobby was gardening, a skill he honed with great care. Additionally, he found solace in fishing and took pleasure in the simple joy of being outdoors. His storytelling brought laughter and warmth to those around him.
Those remaining to cherish his memories are his children Cindy Towsley, Eddie Black (spouse – Leslie), Tim Black (spouse – Brandy), and Kevin Black (fiancé – Kat); grandchildren, Cheryl, Chelsea, Reagan, Garrett, Madison, Jordan B., Morgen, Triston, Mason, Brooklyn, Chris, Cheri, Jordan D., Mackenzie, and Sadie; great-grandchildren Kaelynn, Daylor, Raigyn, Aralynn, Olivia, Addilyne, Emersyn, McKenzie, Chris, Jr., Ariel and Rachel; great-great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Everly; his sister, Edith Mayfield, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, James Bennie Crutcher and Annie Ruth (Hays) Crutcher, wife Frances Crutcher, his brother, James Crutcher, sister, Julia Perkins, son Chuck Crutcher, and great-grandson Isaiah Blasius.
Family and Friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday evening, June 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel in Kaufman.
A Celebration of Life for Charles will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel in Kaufman with Bryan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Elmo Cemetery in Elmo, Texas.
In all aspects of his life - personal or professional - Charles Edward Crutcher, Sr., will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and passion for nature. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
