Celia Degelia, a cherished wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, in Kaufman, Texas. Born on May 15, 1957, in Brady, Texas, Celia lived a life defined by love, laughter, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Celia graduated from South Garland High School in 1975. In 1977, she married Gerry Degelia, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned nearly five decades. In 1998, they made their home in Kaufman, Texas, where Celia continued to grow deep roots within her family and extended family. Together they created a home where family always came first; a home filled with love, strength and lasting memories.
Nothing mattered more to Celia than her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, filling their lives with affection, laughter and cherished moments. With her caring heart and warm presence, Celia made people feel at home wherever she was. She was always thrilled to discover a good bargain and share her treasured finds with those she loved.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Gerald Degelia; her daughters, Tiffeny Crook and husband Steven, and Christina Lacy and husband Charlie; her sons, Benjamin Degelia and wife Antonia and John Robert Degelia; her sister, Miriam Moreno and Freddy Martinez: her brother, Alexander Moreno, Jr.
Her legacy lives on through her treasured grandchildren: Jordan Kennedy and husband Laramie, Isabella Degelia, Sophia Degelia, Piper Degelia, Jackson Lacy, and Wyatt Degelia; as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Landry and Tatum Kennedy.
Celia was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Moreno, Sr. and Celia Armendariz.
Celia will be remembered for her selfless heart, contagious laugh and the deep love she gave so freely to everyone around her. Though she will be profoundly missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the countless memories she created and in the family she loved beyond measure. Her life was a beautiful example of kindness, strength, and unconditional love.
