Auddie Jean Mooneyham, 87, of Kaufman, TX passed away on July 19th, 2026. Auddie was born to John & Mary Jane Mooneyham in Waxahachie, TX on 05/29/1939. He was the youngest boy of 10 children. He grew up in the Lancaster/Hutchins area.
He never graduated high school. He only made it through the 8th grade, but he went on to become an engineer and retired from the Sprint/United telephone company. He always told us the story of his mama sending him to the one room schoolhouse with the other kids, and the teacher would send him home because he was so small. The teacher thought he was not old enough to be in school. His mama would send him back so he would just hide under the schoolhouse porch till the teacher one day said “come on in”.
Auddie joined the Army on December 17th, 1956 and served in Korea. He never talked much about his time in the army, with the exception of a couple of times he and his buddies were not exactly doing what they were supposed to be doing at the time. Kinda sounded like “No time for Sergeants” moments. Scared they were going to get into trouble at the time, but made for great stories to tell later. He was honorably discharged on December 16th, 1959. Where he came home to Lancaster and married Laura Louise Shortnacy.
Auddie & Louse were married on June 11th, 1960, and raised their family, son Danny & daughter Lisa in Kaufman, Tx.
Dad enjoyed his family, growing hay, his cows, riding horses, working on the farm, napping and dancing. In his later years he was a member of the 49ers Dance Club in 7-points, Tx where he made many lasting good friends.
He is preceded in death by his father John, mother Mary, wife Louise, son Danny Lynn, and siblings, Estelle, JJ, Mozelle, Minnie, Faye, Leona, RL, Eunice, & Mary.
Those left to cherish his memory include daughter: Lisa Renee’ Holditch and husband Danny; grandchildren Jennifer Zeitler; Cody Holditch and wife Cassie, Hannah Denning and husband Noah; great-grandchildren Jerry Dela Garza, Aubrey Zeitler, Blake Zeitler, & Carleigh Holditch; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Clyde W Cosper Texas Veterans Home in Bonham, Tx where they have so graciously taken care of him for the past 3 years.
