Ann Marie Elzner Bailey was born in the Grays Prairie community on September 19, 1926, to Steven and Annie Elzner. She peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, just one month shy of her 100th birthday.
Ann was raised in Grays Prairie and, from a young age, worked to help support her family. On June 1, 1948, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Bailey, at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Fr. Wenceslas Pechal officiating. Together, Kenneth and Ann shared 65 loving years of marriage, building a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and love.
Ann was a longtime and devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where she faithfully served as President of the Altar Society. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great joy in serving her church and community.
For several years, Ann worked at Greenslade Drug Store, where she especially enjoyed working at the soda fountain. Those who knew her will remember her warm personality, kind heart, and dedication to those around her.
Above all, Ann cherished her family. She devoted much of her life to raising her children and caring for the people she loved. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and presence brought comfort and joy to many.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth; her parents, Steven and Annie Elzner; and eight siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph Glenn Bailey (Debbie); daughter, Annette Bailey (Oscar); grandchildren, Patrick Ryan Bailey, Joshua Michael Bailey, and Clarita Gutierrez; brother, Ben Elzner and wife Lillie Mae; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Ann leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, devotion, and family. Her nearly 100 years of life were filled with memories that will be treasured by all who had the blessing of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with her loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
