David Ray Hooten was born in Dallas, Texas on June 16, 1936 to Jessie and Maggie McBride Hooten. David passed away in a Dallas, Texas hospital on January 16, 2001. David was raised in Dallas in the Oak Cliff area. He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1956 and served for six years. After serving in the Air Force David lived in Mesquite and Dallas. David and his family traveled all over the country. In 1972 David moved back to the Dallas area. In 1993 he moved to the Kaufman area. He was a member of the Zion Hill Assembly of God Church in Canton and the American Legion. His wife Wanda Nell Scott preceded David in death in 1992. David is survived by his sons: Tim Hooten of Hawkinsville, Georgia and Michael Hooten of Mesquite, daughter: Kalina Carter of Mesquite, caregiver: Edith Mann of Kaufman, brother: Marvin Hooten of Kemp, sister: Wilma Ruth Scott of Myrtle Springs, fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
