RUDELL TARPLEY SMITH Rudell Tarpley Smith passed away in Richardson, Texas on September 20, 2008. Rudy was born June 21, 1909 in Rand, Texas to Fannie Foster and Will Tarpley. She grew up in the Rand Community. After graduating from Kaufman High School, she moved to Dallas and worked in a dress factory then went to work assembling airplanes at North American Aviation during World War II and later retired from Western Electric Company at age 65. She married Garland W. Smith in 1939 and had one daughter, Sherry Daphny Smith. Rudy was a very independent and capable woman who will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family more than anything. She made no secret how much she admired and worshiped her three grandsons and their accomplishments. A Baptist and member of the Billy Graham Evangelist Church, she never failed to watch the Billy Graham crusades but most especially loved the voice and songs of George Beverly Shea. Rudy is survived by her daughter: Sherry Daphny Annett and her husband Perry Mike of Richardson, grandsons: Brandon Annett and his wife Katy of Charlotte, North Carolina, Colby Annett and his wife Ami of Dallas and Blaine Annett of Dallas, great-grandchildren: Jakob, Luke, Caroline, Kaleb and Brady Annett, brother: Charles Henry Tarpley of Garland, sister: Opal Tarpley Brady of Kaufman and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22, 2008 at 10:00 A.M at Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home with interment following in Kaufman Cemetery.
