Nina Pearl Atkins

NINA BENNETT ATKINS Nina Pearl Atkins was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas on August 8, 1928 to Thomas and Gracie Manning Bennett. Nina passed away at her residence in Kaufman, Texas on October 15, 2014. Nina was raised in Pocahontas, Arkansas and moved to Dallas, Texas when she was eighteen. She began working for Sears in Dallas and that is where she met her husband Billy Atkins. She married Billy on September 2, 1950 and they had a child and lived in Oak Cliff. Nina later decided to attend Trinity Valley JC Nursing School in Kaufman where she later graduated at the top of her class. Nina worked for Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman and then worked for a local nursing home as the charge nurse. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Warsaw Baptist Church. She loved cooking, sewing, farming and reading. Billy preceded her in death on July 3, 2006 and a son Anthony Atkins in 2007. Nina is survived by her grandchildren: Natalie Antoinette Atkins of Dallas, Haley Ann Atkins of Kaufman and Anthony Atkins of Dallas, great-grandchildren: Ethan Whittiker, Braeden Whittiker, Lyric Hollingsworth, Phoenix Hollingsworth, Caden Herron, Trevor Jeffrey and Aaven Atkins, niece: Misty McFadden Keith and many other relatives and friends.
