ZELMA POLSON BOLES Zelma Polson Boles was born in Kaufman County, Texas on July 21, 1911 to Jefferson Timothy Polson and Maggie Lee Benson. Zelma passed away at her home in Scurry, Texas on November 6, 2015. Zelma was raised in Scurry and graduated from East Texas State University with a bachelor and masters degree in history and mathematics. She taught school for the Scurry-Rosser Schools District for thirty-three years. She was also the girls and boys basketball coach there. She retired in 1978 and then she started tutoring until 1999. Zelma also wrote a book about the Scurry-Rosser School District. She was a member of the Scurry Church of Christ and the Retired Teachers Association. Zelma loved to play scrabble and played in many scrabble tournaments. She married Raymond F. Boles in Scurry on January 27, 1934. Raymond preceded her in death in 1978. Zelma was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. She is survived by her son: Donald Ray Boles and his wife Carolyn of Midland, grandchildren: Larea Arnett and her husband Eric and Chris Dixson-Boles and wife Kelly, great-grandchildren: Abby Dixon- Boles and Asher Dixson-Boles and many other relatives and friends.
