Melvin L. Whiteley, born October 5, 1941 in Peeltown, TX, passed away June 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Whiteley; mother, Wyllodene Roberts Whiteley; brothers, Howard Whiteley, Billy Rex Whiteley and Kenneth Whiteley. He is survived by his brother Cecil Whiteley and wife Laura; sister Opal (Ludy) Radican and husband Delton; sons, Brian Whiteley and Mark Whiteley; daughter, Kimberly Martin and husband Johnny; granddaughters, Candy Edwards, Amber Cross, Ashley Moore, and Angela Sather and their spouses; 6 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. He served in the Army from 1958 through 1962 where he was a professional boxer. He sparred with Cassius Clay in 1962 in downtown Dallas. He worked in heavy construction for more than 50 years. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in his later years. He was and is a dearly loved son, brother, Daddy, Papaw, and Big Papaw.
