Andrew Oliver Freeman, Jr. (A.O.) was born on October 8, 1926 in Ben Franklin, Texas to Andrew Oliver (Sr.) and Ollie B. Freeman. He passed away in Sunnyvale, Texas, on July 11, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla, his parents and five siblings: Odell, Opal Ray, Otha Francis, Orene & Oneta.
A.O. graduated from Cooper High School and immediately joined the U. S. Navy. He served his country from 1944-1946 as a Fireman 1st class and Motor Machinist Mate. In January, 1945, he married Priscilla Dean Williams of Dallas. They had three children, David, Linda & Charlotte. The family lived in Dallas until moving to Kaufman in 1962. A. O. was a brick mason by trade in the Dallas area. He then bought and operated the Kaufman Feed Store for over 30 years, where a hot cup of coffee and conversation was always available. He was very involved in the Beefmaster cattle organization, breeding and raising polled Beefmaster cattle for decades. After selling the feed store, A.O. could be found on his tractor cutting hay or tending his cows.
A.O. and Priscilla were very active in Colonial Baptist Church in Dallas and First Baptist Church in Kaufman. He was an active deacon for many years in both churches.
“Granddaddy” loved his 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed all family holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. A.O. also spent many hours watching and cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, before dozing off in his chair.
He was a generous and loving grandfather who was cherished by his entire family, and loved by his many friends in the Kaufman and Canton communities. We will all miss him dearly. Those left to cherish his memory are: son David Freeman and wife Sandy, daughters: Linda Perrin and husband Ed and Charlotte Chaney and husband Steve; grandchildren: Marisa Olivarez and husband Mark, Bret Freeman and wife Kelly, Melanie Perez, Michael Chaney and wife Candy, Allison Chaney, Abbie Sawtelle and husband James, Patterson Perrin and wife Hanna; great grandchildren: Blake Freeman and his fiance Jessica, Joshua, Jacob and Luke Freeman, Nathan Olivarez and wife Sarah, Natalee Altom and husband Gil, Namon Olivarez, Ashlee and Alexis Perez and coming soon great grandson Henry Patterson Perrin and numerous nieces and nephews.
