Jo Short

Jo Short of Kaufman County passed away peacefully at her home on July 19, 2018.  She was born in Paris, Texas on March 3rd, 1927.  She had two sons, Terry Short of Kaufman, and W. David Short of Vidor, Texas and his wife Anne.  She had two grandchildren David Short, Jr. and wife Dawn and Shelly Wallace and husband Keith.  She had three great grandkids, Logan, Lance and Grace.  She is preceded in death by her Husband, Bill, her parents and two brothers.  In 1945 she married William (Bill) C. Short, who was in the Navy during World War II at the time of their marriage.  Upon his discharge they moved to Dallas, Texas to start their life together.  in 1967 they moved to a small farm in Kaufman County.  Jo attended secretarial school after she graduated from High School and upon completion worked for several businesses.  Jo started volunteering at the Kaufman county Library.  This volunteering turned into a part-time job and eventually progressed into a full-time position.  She worked at the library until 2016 and retired and the age of 89.  Jo loved books and was an avid reader, which made her work at the library very enjoyable.  In lieu of flowers please make donation to the Kaufman County Library.
