In 1997 David and his family decided to enter the family funeral home business themselves because many family owned funeral homes were emerging with large corporate owned funeral homes and David's family felt that families were not receiving the service that they were used to with family owned funeral homes.

So in 1997 they opened the Parker Ashworth Funeral home in Kaufman Texas. Now David, Shelia, and Shawn operate the funeral home themselves with the help of Jack Stokes, who has been a licensed Funeral Director for over fifty years and has been in Kaufman Texas area for fifteen years.

David R. Parker is a graduate of Terrell High School and Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He started his career in the funeral industry in 1968 when he was still a student in Terrell schools and after graduating from High School in 1970 he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas. David moved back to Terrell and graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Sicence in 1972 and He worked in a local Terrell funeral home until 1976 when he moved to Seagoville, and worked for Mathis Funeral Home. In 1980 David moved back to Terrell where he worked for a local funeral home and eventually managed six funeral homes and two cemetery operations.

David R. Parker is a Past President of the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce, member of the Kaufman Lions Club, board Past Vice President of the Kaufman Economic Commission.
